Does anyone own or be informed someone that owns an Acer Notebook? They are cheap in price but i wasn't sure how well do they perform? Any thoughts?

I'm very on cloud nine with my acer aspier 5100. It has quality hardware such as - samsung memory modules, a western digital hard spin. creative sound card. The only thing I don't like about it (as with all of the less expensive models from all brands) is that it's graphics is shared ,... But it's still an ATI video wag. To get dedicated graphics in a laptop, makes them much more expensive. I've had mine for a year and it has performed like a influence... I only paid 499.00 for it so I'm happy. I have also owned an HP and this one performs just as well . good luck

well, I'm using one rational now. Mine is travelmate 6291. So far, I've no problem with it, I've been using it for about 6 months now and used it for about 5 to 6 hours per day. Yet it still performed perfectly as a notebook should be, I patron.

I am using a 9410 series and have two 5100 series I bought for the grandchildren. Have had mine for over 5 months and been very tickled pink. Had to update the video from Intel site for the 5100's to get some games to run properly. Had to go to Acer and get original sound drivers to deactivate the HD upgrade that got downloaded. Ward problems and easy to resolve. Really like them all.

Im buying laptop £400 quite max. but I ant use half the software with a windows vista, even if it wasnt aer cn you reccomend or tell me of any!

Tasha, here is a tip: buy a laptop with Vista, because XP is no longer being fully supported and installing Vista over XP in a combine of years is strictly for the pros

Go on line and you can find many web sites that show you how to turn off many of Vista's memory gobbling bells and whistles

For specimen, my Vista laptop looks like an XP machine, but still being fully supported by M$
