This rules is my literary doppelganger. That's so self-indulgent to say, eh? But this book is mine. You wrote this with me in mind, Mr Salinger. You'll have to admit that sooner or later.

Christian books?
Apr 23, 2007 by Kiara | Posted in Books & Authors
Do you have any recommendations for Christian books? I enjoyed "Undiluted Christianity" and "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis, and I will certainly look into his other works. I am currently reading "The Jesus I Never Knew" by Philip Yancey. Do you have any suggestions for other authors/books? I'm 15, and I am competent to understand nearly all of what I have read so far, but please no books on profound theology or in-depth philosophy that I'm not going to be able to comprehend. I desire to read books that are difficult and will challenge me, and are thought-provoking, but nothing that's going to be way beyond my understanding.
Also, any suggestions of books about the Reformation or Martin Luther?
Thanks!
"Waking the Uninterested" by John Eldredge is really great. For books on Reformation or Lutheranism, I suggest you check out elca.org and click on resources; also augsburgfortress.org and Concordia Publishers are both specifically Lutheran publishers (I be versed, I work for a Lutheran church although Iamnot Lutheran). You could start with Luther's Small Confessions (it's available at Augsburg for about a dollar).

Perhaps this is a silly suggestion, but if you haven't read them, I suggest the Gospels, including the Gnostic gospels.

I do not separate if you want fiction of non fiction, but if religious based fiction is your thing, try books by Andrew M Greeley. He has published a LOT and his sanity of humour he imparts to his characters is absolutely wicked! I've read God Game, The Final Planet and I am currently working my way through Angel Fire which is truly hilarious, and thought provoking.
Oh, and as a slight seal of authenticity, he either is or was a practising Catholic priest.

I effectively recommend "The God of Jesus." It might be a little difficult for you to get through, but you seem like an intelligent person. My pastor loaned it to me, and it uncommonly increased my understanding of the new testament.

If you liked C.S. Lewis, I would plug "Till We Have Faces" and "The Four Loves." Although very different, they are both quite good.

I would recomend Max Lucado.

I enjoyed "More Than A Carpenter" by Josh McDowell

When you say Christian, there is a Big amount of paperback you can read. personally, and because you are so young, and you have learn already about Jesus, it seams to me, that you should read, or learn from any specific church, or believed of Christianity, in experience you can read Buddhism, Hinduism, and a lot more, for philosophy, although you are skeptical about the deep you which your mind to travel.
So, the Bible should be out of the question, because to stick to the man's mention in the best book of all times, you need that bit of philosophy only experience in good though from good books will take you, as well that learn of the propitious way to learn, to read a book a/o a writer will have a great influence in your future life. So, I will recommend, for you to read a 1500 Christian philosophers, Pens es, letters, treatise, the wizardry triangle (which deals with geometry), as well of experiments he did to measure the weight of the Air, and so further, inventions, like the first calculator that sometimes we use in shopping for foodstuffs.
Please don't think I didn't give this answer a great though before I begin to answer you. although it was my experience, I read his books many times and over again, he is very Humanistic to pen, without trying to convince you, to believed him. His name is Blaise Pascal. french philosopher and scholar, and a lot more, of the 1500, centuries. I which you to try it. Fiction or Non-Fiction? Books by Ted Dekker if decipher by someone who doesn't understand Christianity or Spirituality in general may just see them as good books. But as a Christian I could see the depth and the reasoning behind his words. Loving terrible books full of suspense and action. The Circle Trilogy by him is awesome. Also Skin, Showdown, Three..all great books. Try Frank Peretti also. Those are devoted books. The Visitation, Blood of Heaven, and Double Helix are great books, don't know the authors though.

Feb 27, 2009 by roaringlamb04 | Posted in Marriage & Divorce
I am a Christian 24 year old maidservant, and I've been married for almost 3 years. Recently my husband confessed he's been living a double life... committing adultery amongst many other sins. He formerly larboard me and now I'm in need of any information you can give me on Christian support groups, good Christian books, etc. to help me during this difficult time. I go to church, pray and look over my Bible. I'm just searching for other things to help supplement. Thank you, and God bless.
Adhere with that church, they can be a great support. Also, try ot get in a small group there if they have one, and find people you can trust to lean on and be spiritually accountable with. They will no have misgivings about know a lot of resources.

Is it weird to put Christian devotional and prayer books in the bathroom?
May 21, 2009 by I'M NOT ON A DIET!!! | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
I went into the washroom today and saw that my mom had put a devotional order and two other Christian books about prayer ontop of hte toilet. I asked her about it and she gave me this look, like I shouldn't have anything to say about it, idk.
I'm not even Christian, but my mom and her husband are both very religious and inner.
do you think this is at all disrespectful? not to me, but just to the religion itself....and just odd?
not at all.

What are some good wisdom, christian books for teens?
Nov 04, 2008 by Riah H | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
I want to advised of some good books for teens that are christians. I am a christian and haven't been acting like one. I need help. So all I want to know is some tolerable wisdom, christian books for teens. If your going to list Mark Matlock...I already have. Give me some good ones if you can.
Thank You.
If you miss wisdom, I would say start with the book of Proverbs or Song of Solomon in the Bible. They are full of truth and wisdom from King Solomon, who was granted judiciousness by God. There are 31 chapters in Proverbs, so just read a chapter a day, and in a month, you will have experienced the whole book. It is surprising that superannuated texts have so much relevance still today.

Do you know of any good Christian books for teens ?
May 19, 7056 by Idalia H | Posted in Books & Authors
I have to cancel a report on a Christian book...i wanted to know of any good books that are inspirational and that have a good message ! for teens
thx
God Bless !
Honest Peretti's Veritas Project books (Hangman's Curse and Nightmare Academy) are great books that are hard to put down. His book The Avowal is also very good and with a good message, however, it's not specifically for teens. He also wrote The Cooper Kids Adventure series about two siblings that journey the world with their archaeologist father and encounter a lot of strange things and many dangers and see God's hand of protection all the time. He also wrote some supramundane thrillers that deal with spiritual warfare plus - not specifically for teens - that are excellent - This Present Darkness and Loud the Darkness.
Jerry B. Jenkins' novel called Hometown Legend is a really good and inspirational joke. It was also made into a movie recently.
Though they are not specifically for teens, several authors have written really good stories like Lawanna Blackwell (Gresham Chronicles), Francine Rivers (The Last Sin Eater), Gilbert Morris (Firm of Winslow series) and Jane Peart (Brides of Montclair series).
CBD has a huge list of Christian books for teens that may lend a hand. They are usually pretty good. http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/easy_find?event=EBRN&category=Fiction&N=1110797&Ne=1000000&Nso=1&Nu=result%2Eendeca%5Frollup&format=1014644&Ns=product%2Enumber%5Fsold
FYI: Christy is by Catherine Marshall. She also wrote Julie.
