Have you tried the dumb cooker swiss steak,with using two cans of mushroom soup mixed with a can of water and after you cut to portion sizes and brown steak first,then prosper it all in a slow cooker.oh and chopped onions, to cook 8-9 hours was to die for when i made it just this past week end with cooking like this to heck with cooking out..whom ever sent this technique in a Big Thank You..
Aren't those Taste of Home recipes wonderful? I have a Toy recipe in one of their books and a Chocolate Zucchini Cake recipe in another.
Is it significance attending? As a rule I really like the Taste of Home magazines and cookbooks.
I well-deserved kick myself because the last time they came here I didn't go! Ugh. I hear wonderful things about it, you should go if you have the opportunity.
if so, what is the formula for what looks like mock suzy q's as featured? (chocolate sandwich cakes with white cream stuffing)
I meditate on your best bet is to go to eBay and buy this cookbook if you can find it. Wish I could have been more help as I have over 80 cookbooks!
It is very old and came out of a Taste of Home cookbook.
Sharp SANDWICH LOAF
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. mushrooms, sliced
1/2 c. green pepper
1 lb. frozen bread dough, thawed
1/4 lb. ham, thinly sliced
1/4 lb. salami, thinly sliced
1/4 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 1/2 oz. pepperoni, thinly sliced
Liquidize butter in a large skillet. Add mushrooms and green pepper; cook, stirring often, until tender. Set aside. On a unselfish baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, press dough into a 10 x 13-inch rectangle. Layer ham, salami, cheese and pepperoni down center of dough. Top with mushrooms and na peppers. Fold sides of dough overlapping the edges. Turn seam side down; pinch ends together. Account for and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 or 40 minutes, until blest brown. Good hot or cold.
SPICY SANDWICH LOAF
1 c. mushrooms
1/4 lb. sliced ham
1/4 lb. sliced salami
1/4 lb. Mozzarella or Provolone cheese
1 1/2 oz. pepperoni, sliced
Sliced lowering olives
Sliced green olives
American cheese, sliced or grated
1 lb. frozen bread dough, thawed
On great baking sheet, press dough into 10 x 13 inches. Layer generously meats and cheeses down center of dough. Top with mushrooms. Clasp sides of dough over filling, lapping edges. Turn seam side down. Pinch edges together and tuck under to seal. Substitute and let rise in a warm place 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Let go to bat for b wait in the wings 10 minutes before slicing.
