We've tried The Eclipse Association but their books require a special type of player. Where can I get books on tape? Is there an organization that will record books on order?

When listening to books on tape (audio books) do you prefer abridged or unabridged? Why?
Jan 11, 2008 by PaxMaker | Posted in Books & Authors
An abridged translation is when editors trim down the book to make it shorter. It fits on fewer CDs or tapes. You can get through it faster.
Unabridged means that every parley in the book is on the tape. You get everything. There may be more CDs or tapes and it takes longer to get through.
If you listen to books-on-tape, which type do you prefer and why?
I always favour unabridged. If the author put something in the book, it's there for a reason, and (as an author myself) I want to respect the author's creation.
Getting through it faster (as if it were a torturous apply) isn't a concern.

How can a person get involved in reading books on tape?
Jul 01, 2006 by Russell M | Posted in Books & Authors
I vocation in broadcasting, specifically news and audio production. I'm thinking that reading books on tape might be a good career move, or possibly a sideline.
I've recently looked into this myself. I am an actor with some vocal training. I lively in Canada so I naturally contacted the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind). Wherever you live there should be an inaugurate for the blind. Try there first. I know the Canadian Institute seeks volunteers to transfer books to tape. I'll be doing my audition soon, aspire it goes well.
Good luck!
