Spanish books?
Dec 26, 2006 by Jane A | Posted in Languages
Hi, im intriguing spanish in high school. This is my fourth year with the language and i know it pretty well but i am still not fluent. I would like to improve my spanish by reading some books. Can anyone reccomend some spanish novels that arent very advanced. Maybe some chapter books that are written for rudimentary school or middle school kids in spanish speaking countries...so it wont be too much for me to handle but still more challenging than a picture tome. thanks!
There is a very favourable book collection for children from every age called "El barco de Vapor". They are nice stories from 3 to 14 years, so that you can decide what suits you.
Also, there are feel-good poems for children by Gloria Fuertes.
If you dare to read something for adults and in primordial version, I would recommend a short very good novel called "Las ratas", by Miguel Delibes.
Also, "La familia de Pascual Duarte", by Camilo Jose Cela.

A sure thing textbooks in schools have short stories in them...
I'm also prety sure that you can find a lot of English childrens books that have been translated into spanish.
Watching movies (DVDs have the idiom choice) in Spanish is also helpful.

Either buy software in Spanish (Coscto are cheaper) or go to any library away you, they have a good selection of audio so you can listen in the car, video so you can watch it at home.
There is so many books if you go to Barnes & nobles or Borders.
Also, I would plug you find a poem book written by
Pablo Neruda and find yourself a pocket dictonary.
You will learn in no time.
If you still have more questions e-correspondence and I'll be glad to help you.

For the most part the best selling books are translated to the most widely spoken languages. That includes English and Spanish. Pick the book you'd under consideration the best and look for it on amazon.com You'll find it in many languages.
If you are looking for Hispanic writers, I'd recommend you Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel García Marquez's books.

1. "La alegría de querer" by Jairo Aníbal Niño.
2. "Noticia de una muerte anunciada" by Gabriel García Márquez.
3. The transliteration into Spanish of Italian novelist Susana Tamaro's "Donde el corazón te lleve." (Excellent grammar and definitely simple and straightforward).

I've pore over things from the House of Night series to the Twilight and Harry Potter series. Cate Tiernan, HOlly Unscrupulous etc.
But I wanna start expanding my reading to spanish books and was just wondering if anybody knew of any books in spanish that are good. =]
I heartly promote that you check “Caballo de Troya" by J.J. Benitez. You can check Wikipedia's entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caballo_de_Troya.
Clearly it now has a total of eight volumes. When I read it, quite a few years ago, I knew of only four or five volumes. The story is fascinating and sometimes makes you fascination if it is really science fiction or not. It also contains an amazing amount of scientific information, which you might also find interesting and educational for young readers.

What type of Spanish books would you suggest reading?
Feb 09, 2009 by BlackCup | Posted in Languages
I am currently culture Spanish, and think it would be a resonable idea to try reading some books in Spanish, however, for a beginner with a somewhat basic knowledge - what would you suggest?
I've been thinking about infuriating books intended primarily at young teenages (ie 12-14), how would they be to read for a beginner? Would it still be at a too high level to fully realize?
Thanks
I did enjoy the recently released book "The Boy in the striped pijamas", in English. I theory it is aimed at young adults, as in English at least, there was no vocabulary that struck me as being really unusual or challenging. If you know the ticket, do you think it would be ok as a beginners book in Spanish or a little too advanced?
I would try reading books that you've already be familiar with in English. The other day, I checked out Romeo y Julieta, Hamlet, y Julio Cesar. I've read them all in English, so I know the basics of the item but I can use them to learn Spanish. Depending on your level of spanish, I would start easy. Maybe with some children's or young adult books, and move up as your vocabulary and capability expands. Good Luck!
Sounds good. it may be slow going at first (it has been for me), but just look up any words you can't presence out. Amazon has a copy of the book in Spanish.

Could I teach my self more Spanish by reading Spanish books?
Nov 18, 2008 by Blacky~ iestá detrás! | Posted in Languages
Well I am a sophomore, but only in Spanish two now, I actually want to get better at Spanish, and was wondering if trying to read Spanish books would help. At the moment I probably would be able to get too far bast children's record to very young adult books. What do you think, would it help?
If so, can you suggest any Spanish books?
Where could I buy them?
Yes, reading it will remedy you learn to read it. However, if you want to learn how to speak it and hear it, watch a Spanish show. There are novelas, ( like soap operas,) pick a nonetheless that you can watch it two to three times a week. Once you understand a base in Spanish this will really help out a lot. If you watch the same show then you begin to follow the tidings line and understand more or less what is going on in each situation. This will help you learn the words from the context. In addition you will learn the inflection and rhythm of the language which you cannot learn from reading.
