Do you necessity current or past protest literature?
1729 - A great example of protest literature historically is A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift. In AMP Swift uses irony to call to concentration the impoverished state of the people of Ireland that are being oppressed by their British counterparts.
1849- Another great example would be Thoreau's "Resisters to Civil Government," where he advocated tax refusal as a way to stand up against slavery and what he saw as an unjust war with Mexico.
1906- The Jungle by Upton Sinclair is a book makes a delineated criticism of the capitalist system and government corruption.
1966- For a more modern approach you could use Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. This book explores what Bradbury saw as an increasingly dysfunctional American beau monde in which people refuse to think for themselves.

Protest literature would as a rule imply that it's actually literature. Not tween-pop songs. No offense to your musical taste or anything. Check the essay "Well-mannered Disobedience" by Henry David Thoreau. It's the quintessential piece about resistance. You'll get major props from your advisor by choosing it. Also, if you're into songs, look up stuff by almost any artist during the Vietnam war.

How does this constitute protest literature?

Quotes from the lyrics "incidents of a slave girl by Harriet Jacobs"
Senator Brown, of Mississippi, could not be unread to many such facts as these, for they are frequent occurrence in every Southern State. Yet he stood up in the Congress of the United States, and declared that moil was “a great moral, social, and political blessing; a blessing; a blessing to the master, and a blessing to the bondservant”
“But through my life in slavery was comparatively devoid of hardships, God pity the woman who is compelled to lead such a life”
“At other times, it seemed to me there was no objectivity or mercy in the divine government. I asked why the curse of slavery was permitted to exist, and why I had been so persecuted and wronged from sprog upward”.
Any "speaking out" on one-sidedness is a form of protest, no matter how innocuously or mildly it is said. Protest literature exposes a myriad of injustices, whether protesting as an individual or on behalf of a class that has been ill-treated or abused. The woman in this book compassionately, yet quietly, reveals an injustice done to other enslaved women, even though she herself had a less obstinate experience than other women in her situation. Whether a quiet "voice" or a loud "voice," any expressing of one-sidedness is protest. And thank goodness that there are brave ones who to speak up. I am Sirius

Would anyone like to see hippie and protest literature handed out at Michigan State from 1967-71?

I have saved this for 35 years. I have wondered if it would ever be valuable or of interest to anyone. If any inexperienced person wonders what it was really like "back in the day" some of this literature would amaze you. I especially like what the "radicals" said about Richard Nixon.
If you pick up a CV book that kids are learning from today your whole life takes up about four pages. They have no idea what it was like to actually over that you could make a difference.I would love to see it.

What books in American literature is the defintion of rebellion and protest?
Feb 23, 8928 by Toby | Posted in Books & Authors
i am doing a devise and i want some advice
There are lots:
Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls is a fable about an American helping the Spanish rebels fight the Fascists in the Spanish Civil War.
Joseph Heller's Trophy 22 is a great novel about protest against the military and war.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey is about protest against the machinery of society which threatens to gnaw gossip us up any moment.
But if you want to really impress your teacher choose Huck Finn by Mark Twain. When Huck chooses to supporter the runaway slave, Jim, and thus endanger his immortal soul, it's a funny scene but it's the purest form of rebellion in American Literature that I can regard as of.
