I have purchased the gigantic majority of my college textbooks (all subjects, English, science, math, religion, etc.) from Amazon.com used sellers. Only almost never have I found a better deal elsewhere.
You can also sell books there once you are done using them, often for quite a decent price.

I have to say that Amazon has some of the cheapest books around. I have three places that I buy books from: my college reserve store, The College Store, and Amazon, and Amazon's new books are almost always the same price or lower than the used ones at either of the other schools.
Another that turned up when I used google was this... http://www.insiderpages.com/b/5796355094

If you were in Manila, there are many sidewalks where books are sold for very low prices. Here's the strike... some of them are actually surplus inventory from first world countries... Brooklyn included.

Where can you find cheap used books in Montreal?

Not interested in used bookstores - looking for places to buying books for about $1 each (i.e. thrift stores, flea markets, bazaars, etc...) Thanks!
There are also some noble websites that allow you to trade books, CD's, DVD's etc. See my profile for link to titletrader and paperbackswap. This allows you to get rid of an item you no longer demand and get something you do want in return. Titletrader is awesome because you can trade books, dvd's, cd's, games and vhs tapes. So if you get rid of a book you may be able to get a dvd in exchange. Paperbackswap is only for books. Both sites are vast!

Cheap online used books store?

Can anyone endorse a website with a large database/variety of CHEAP used books. Especially if it has a large selection of fiction/sci-fi/fantasy.
Something OTHER than ebay (I don't like ebay) and I've had SEVERAL bad experiences when it comes to Amazon, so never again.
Alibris.com is a vast site. Very reliable. Half.com is also good.

Where can I find cheap used books online?

I am getting together lots of shift hand books, they have to be in a readable condition but not shiny and new-looking. I wanted to get them from charity shops for 10/20p each but I have no time to get there so wondered if there was an online substitute?
*Please don't refer me to Amazon as the 1p books have a hefty £2.75 p&p!*
Ebay is in reality good, despite what people say, and most of the top book sellers are based in UK, so postage shouldn't be too bad for you. But pity me, who buys books from them and lives in Australia.
