*eyeroll* Dismal those titles are still under copyright protection. You're unlikely to find the books for free download, and if you do they are most likely illegal.

Can I return a book that I bought at B. Dalton's at a Barnes and Noble store?

I fitting bought a book 2 days ago from B. Dalton's and I want to know if I can return it to a Barnes and Noble. I believe that B. Dalton's is a branch of Barnes and True and even on the back of the receipt that I received it mentioned something like I have to return any purchases before 14 days to a Barnes and Noble inventory....so I'm assuming I can return it to either a B. Dalton's or a Barnes and Noble. Can I?

Yes, you can. I've bought books at Barnes and Lord and then later returned it to B. Dalton, so I believe it works either way. Hope this helps! =]

I'm perhaps not going to be very helpful to you, but I have to refute the previous answerer's assertion that this book was written during the Vietnam War. It was, in fact, published in 1938. The film was released in 1971, which may have led to his confusion.

To a certain extent war is war, so the fact that this is an anti-war novel set during
WW I does not make it any more or less apposite to issues faced by people in any given war since then. Specifics may change but the essence of war does not. Odds are, if its points about war were valid then they bear validity today.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "the American experience", particularly as it might tie to this book which seems to me to be much more about universals than about any nationalistic stance.

I will say that the author was subjected to an American experience during WW II when he ended up investigated by the FBI for reporting to them about people who were interested in his romance, which had been pulled from publication for the duration. On the other hand, that sort of thing is not at all unique to America either, in fact we would like to credit that we are above all that, evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.
