Why do teachers always prefer students to get spiral bound notebooks?
Oct 17, 2007 by actmusic3 | Posted in Teaching
I was at best thinking about my school supplies list, and I was just wondering why teachers always want you to get sprial bound notebooks instead of the ones that are glued together. If you have a sprial bound notebook, sometimes some of the spiral part comes incomplete, and it can get hooked on to your shirt by accident, and that's not safe. I'm pretty sure that teachers want you to be safe, not caught on spiral bound notebook all day.
As a educationist, we usually recommend spiral bound (the kind with the perforated pages)because:
1) the glued notebooks fall apart easily
2) work stays in the same appointment
3) they are generally cheaper than others (we try to keep things low cost for the parents)

I loathe spiral notebooks because of all the paper mess they can cause.
I can't totally forbid them, but I certainly discourage their use.

What to do with spiral bound notebooks?
Aug 08, 2008 by HolleyMC | Posted in Hobbies & Crafts
My roommate and I valid bought 20 notebooks (spiral bound, 70pg college ruled paper) because they were only 5 cents each. WHAT SHOULD WE DO WITH THEM!?!?!
If you can't use them all up with orthodox classwork... and the great ideas from the first respondent:
DONATE them to a local school or YMCA or Boys/Girls Order. There are plenty of kids out there short of basic school supplies.

Is the metal spiral of a spiral bound notebook recyclable?
Mar 05, 2009 by mitman | Posted in Green Living
If not, why? It seems melodious obvious that it could just be melted down and reused but I have found that most companies don't recycle it. I am specifically wondering about the metal spiral, not the entire notebook, and if the spiral can be recycled commercially like thesis and cans.
It is, yes.

Where can I find an unlined, spiral-bound notebook?
Jul 16, 2009 by Michelle | Posted in Higher Education (University +)
I'm outlandish and can't stand writing on lined paper. Does anyone know where I could find an unlined, spiral-bound notebook that are the size of a regular notebook (8.5 x 11)?
