Reference books about steam and gas turbines?
Jun 15, 2009 by gael m | Posted in Engineering
Hello,
I am looking for relation books on that subject. If possible, books accessible to non - technicians. Areas of interest to me: parts, construction, functioning, uses. I find books on Amazon, but are there late-model good summaries? Would be interested in such books in the french / german languages as well.
Thank you
If you only need general answers, just go to a library and look through some physics books, they should give math formulas and other info. on the subject of turbines and jet engines.
Or maybe just go to http://www.wikipedia.org, they might answer that point also.
Irrelevant ---> but, I figured out how a gas powered refrigerator worked through it's use of just a flame, to actually refrigerate!
-By due looking through a physics book.
Take it easy....

My Grandfather Robert Rausch b1910 aprox wrote books on railway / steam engines in German. How do I find them?

He was Prussian (east German) lived in Erfurt and Halle Salle. He was an designer possibly.
Also, the SWR (German telly channel and Radio station) has a club for people who are interested in steam engines: Eisenbahn-Romantik. It's all in German but you can junction them and ask for assitance! This link brings you straight to the email form: http://www.swr.de/eisenbahn-romantik/-/id=98578/vv=email/nid=98578/did=3954646/z974d3/first finger.html
Then there is the "Deutsche Nationalbibliothek" you can contact here: info-l@d-nb.de

What is the unbiased definition of Steam punk? And what are some good movies/shows/books about the topic?

I'm in reality interested in the subject.
The closest element i can honestly think of is Steam Boy. Its a really good movie, about 2 hours long shows and alternate time in the victorian era and technology. Desire i helped ya.

I against to have this book about a little steam engine, it was an old old book, the ones with the gold coloured binding. Does anyone know the name?
I fantasize it's the Little Engine that Could. I LOVED that book!!! But I think in the Golden Book Series there might be another version of it.
