Ty Mosler walked away from his administration position at the Family Christian Bookstore in Asheville, N.C., after eight years because of a quandary he never thought he'd face: A change in the Christian store's operating hours meant Mr. Mosler would have to pass up going to church at least half of the year.

Yes. Christians have it rearward. Saturday is the Sabbath Day. On the first day he said "Let there be light" Sunday. I'm a Christian and I've never understood.

I expect you have way too much time on your hands!! If you seriously have time to worry about something like that then you are not busy enough in life. Get a job or another job!!

It's healthful - they are open for a worthy cause - in the service of Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel. So it's proper for the bookstores to to the people & the cause Of Jesus Christ on Sundays.
I see no problem there. And sundays are our traditional day of worship. history and ritual have made this happen, and cannot be changed so readily.

Yes, but only after Midday, as in my area, we can't buy beer at the supermarket until after Noon. I guess so that people don't go to church drunk? If I can't buy beer before noon on Sunday owing to obscene laws, people shouldn't be able to buy bibles before noon on Sunday, either.

Real Question!!!
I think NOT. If they are Christians they should observe the sabbath, and not be open. They should set an example. I would like to think that the employees of this humanitarian of store would be Christians and would like to go to church on Sundays.
On the other hand.......... I know lots of people who never about a Sunday at church, they look down on the people who go to work on Sunday, then these same people go out to a restaurant after church with their families only to be waited on someone who is WORKING ON SUNDAY!!!!
HYPOCRITES!!
I guestimate if someone runs a business, they should be able to choose when they are open/closed.
I think people would EXPECT a christian book reservoir to be CLOSED on Sundays.

POLL: Have you ever visited Family Christian Bookstores?
May 22, 5545 by Secret Asian Man | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
Yes. One experience I went there trying to find a copy of the Book of Common Prayer for a friend, and the sales staff didn't even differentiate what I was talking about. I wasn't impressed. As I recall, they seem to primarily cater to the Evangelical set.

There are smaller Wide stores in a lot of places that sell that kind of thing. If all else fails, everything else is for sale through amazon.com, you might try there.

How old do you have to be to work at Family Christian Bookstore?
Jul 13, 2007 by bun | Posted in Other - Careers & Employment
In the 90s, I worked there for 7 years. I of you have to be 16. I would highly recommend not working there. You get minimum wage and they expect you to work sometimes without getting paid. The christian retail charge is very corrupt.

Does anyone know anything about calling on Christian Bookstores?
Sep 11, 2007 by dmaturin12 | Posted in Other - Advertising & Marketing
Not well-grounded the big ones (Family Christian, etc) Specifically the major distributors involved who would service all the regional and mom and pops. Any additional insights you may be superior to offer a start up?
Thanks
Thanks?
Sounds like you are referring to new books. But, some of the two shakes of a lamb's tail hand book stores would amaze you at what they have. One special place in my town has a wonderful assortment of mostly books with a smidgen age on them. And some older books. The man sells them very reasonably. If you buy very much; he'll give you a good amount off of that.
These store are all over the place.
